Well the major part of today has been simply designing the page which will show all the pub activity. I will never understand where designers get their patience from, I find this part of the job hugely tedious. Not helped by the fact that I am not good at HTML. Goodness knows it is terrible for anyone nearby as well, Dave has had to put up with me moving a button 1 millimetre across the screen and asking him if he thinks it looks better or worse, poor blighter must be wondering if he is having an eye test.
The page I have actually been working on shows all the member activity on a pub, so when a picture was submitted, when it was approved and all that sort of information. Hopefully users will get a bit more confidence in how quickly the site is worked on these days, and also get a better idea of how up to date things like pictures are. Just making it so that this makes sense and looks tidy is a horrendous job for me, and on top of that the silliest thing can throw a spanner in the works, in this case, how should the page be linked to from the pub page? How visible should the link be, do I think it is an important feature and should always be visible, and where would it make most sense to appear? Hopefully when the new design gets released people will understand it.
No other real news today for me to post in any amusing headlines, but I will just mention Peter Crosby who is busily posting loads of pictures of pub signs at the moment, this is fantastic, I used to love walking past all the pub signs on the way home in Bath when I was at school. Sadly they seem to be less ornate these days, and there are obviously less pubs, so any record that can be kept of them is brilliant.
