We have just released a new version of the town pages. This is quite a major update that implements a lot of changes suggested to us.
Firstly though if you spot anything that looks wrong to you, please let us know, with a change like this it is hard to be confident we have not made any mistakes in the release and we may need to iron some stuff out.
This release follows the trend of adding Google Maps across the site, so the maps are now displayed on the town page, and if enabled will show roughly where the pub is when you hover over a pubs name. It is probably wise to leave this switched off on the larger towns, unless you are using Chrome, or have a very fast computer, as IE in particular and also to a lesser extent Firefox seem to struggle with the large amount of points.
Other things implemented are that we have made the sub-districts of towns a lot more visible, and put them into their own counties, hopefully catering for those who were far more geography minded. The icons on the town pages that gave a hint of what was going on with the pubs can now be hidden, and Postcodes can be shown (both requests from members).
We may take a little longer to approve new pubs at the moment as part of these changes means that we have to fiddle a little more when we add pubs to sub-districts, we will do our best to minimalise this, but just in case don't be surprised if we slip a little from our normal 24 hours approval.
The next page to be rebuilt is the individual pub pages, this again requires quite a bit of recoding of the site as we are going to try and change around a few of the concepts, but I will try and keep the updates coming.
